We booked in the beginning of the trip and with Kuoni until we arrived back in the UK, the service was exemplary.
We took the seaplane from Male and also the view of Athuruga was breathless. Here is an ideal side as you are just steps from the amazing reef if you love snorkelling. Access to the reef would be from the jetty or shore although the sundown side is equally as wonderful.
The Water Villa restaurant offers a la carte menu and personal service. The staff on Athuruga are all catered for your every demand and really friendly. One thing I would suggest is if you are staying in the Water Villa attempt the buffet restaurant on day one of your vacation and then should you wish you can mix up where you might have lunch or your breakfast – simply tell the WV staff.
The Water Villas are delightfully decorated and clean. Apple Macs are obtainable in most of the Water Villas in order to keep in contact with family and friends.
You are going to have an incredible time in the event you select on Athuruga.
It was our 5th trip and each time it only gets better.
The food was exceptional in the finished water restaurant, although we wish we’d attempted the restaurant in the island. I’m certain it did but the bbq fish to the island was seemingly delectable.
If there is a negative it’s the over water bar, it can just be used when it’s not raining and isn’t covered. Regrettably we did get a bit of rain so we did not get to utilize the bar as regularly as we would have liked.
But that is really a little negative as the pub to the isle is perfect, over all Athuruga is the greatest island we’ve been to and has everything we’re searching for when seeing the Maldives. I’m sure next year we’ll be back. I’m equally sure you won’t be disappointed.
Athuruga has the best house reef we’ve ever snorkelled on plus it may be swam any instance of the day. We saw stingrays, eagle rays, turtles, manta rays, sharks and much more fish of sizes and colours than you can ever imagine. No powerful currents either.
We remained in a water villa we were first shown to a lagoon view villa but said we’d have preferred to be around the reef side we were moved the next morning without issue or any fuss. The room was huge and furnished to an extremely high standard. The couches on the decking were comfy and so large that we slept on them all night a number of times. It was cool and nearly below the stars sleeping and fresh.
We stayed in the island for 10 days in the start of May. We picked a shore cottage because we desired a vacation to the seashore in the beach and most of the rooms have the shore right in front (perfect seeing the sunrise!). Modern, kept quite clean and classically designed, the sem-detached bungalow we had was a perfect retreat from your perfectly hot, bright weather. The snorkelling and diving were the best yet from the six islands we’ve got up to now seen in the Maldives. The staff were all quite helpful and also and of a very good quality it absolutely was the food changed enough to have something different everyday of our stay. Could not recommend this island personally and enough can’t wait to go back.
